Emotional Support Animal / Pet

Struggling with anxiety, depression, or a mental health condition? An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) can provide comfort, stability, and daily companionship. We’re here to help you take the first step.

What is an Emotional Support Animal?

An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) is a pet that provides comfort, emotional stability, and companionship to individuals struggling with mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, or panic disorders.

Unlike trained assistance animals (such as guide dogs), ESA's do not have specific legal status in the UK. They are not automatically granted public access rights or housing protections under the Equality Act 2010. However, you may be able to request reasonable adjustments—particularly in housing, travel, or work settings.

How Do Emotional Support Animals Help?

Emotional Support Animals can be incredibly beneficial for mental and emotional wellbeing. Their support may help with:

  • Reducing anxiety and stress

  • Improving mood and motivation

  • Easing symptoms of depression

  • Providing a sense of safety and routine

  • Combating feelings of loneliness or isolation

Whether it’s a dog, cat, rabbit, or another companion animal, the emotional bond between a person and their ESA can be a key part of mental health recovery or day-to-day coping. Our GMC-registered GP's will review your request and medical concerns, and issue professional ESA support letters tailored to your needs.

We offer confidential, GP-signed ESA support letters based on a brief online assessment. Whether you’re making a housing request or simply need documentation to explain how your pet supports your mental health, we're here to help.
